Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well today and that you’re being creatively fulfilled in whatever it is that you’re doing.
I was reading an article recently about climate change and the future of the planet and it really struck me how careless we, as humans, have actually been. After all, Earth is our only home, and we’re ruining it from the inside out. Anyway – I was inspired to write, and so today, I’m sharing this poem that I wrote with you. I hope you enjoy it!
Our World
Our world is slowly warming up
And it’s we who are to blame
And if we let it go too far
Then things will never be the same
We have oceans full of plastic
And there are poisons in the air
We’re causing harm to wildlife
and we’re hardly even aware
We think the world belongs to us
But that simply isn’t right
We go around claiming this and that
Throwing around our might
But one day, if we’re not careful
There’ll be nothing left to claim
The waters will be toxic
And the trees will be aflame
Humanity will leave a wasteland
A dead and arid place
And our legacy won’t be of glory
But rather of disgrace
We only have a short time now
To try and pull things back
To learn from our destructive ways
And get things back on track
So be kind to one another
And to other creatures too
And most of all, look after our world
Like she looks after you
As always, thank you so much for spending your time reading my words, it really does mean a lot!
Until next time,
George
