Real Superheroes Don’t Wear Capes

Real Superheroes Don't Wear Capes 2

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well and that you’re all keeping safe. Who would have thought just a few weeks ago that the world would be in the mess it is right now? We’ve been living in strange times lately, and I can’t help thinking of the hell we’d be in without those people supporting society the world over. Can you imagine how difficult life would be without those key workers keeping us going? Anyway, I’m sharing a poem today, and this one is just my way of showing my appreciation. I hope you enjoy it.

Real Superheroes Don’t Wear Capes

Real superheroes don’t wear capes
They don’t fly or peer through walls
They can’t leap buildings in a single bound
Or catch you on a plummeting fall

Their identities are not secret
They walk amongst us in plain sight
Helping to keep the world going round
All through the day and night

Without them, we’d be hopeless
Who would there be to care
Who would stock the supermarkets
So we might buy their wares

Who would clean all the buildings
Such as hospitals and market floors
Who would deliver our groceries
When we can’t move past our doors

And who would help to keep order
When all hell threatens to break loose
Who would tend the petrol pumps
When ambulances need more juice?

There are heroes all around us
They are in every walk of life
Making it easier for us to manage
When we’re in our times of strife

And these heroes ask for nothing
Just your patience and respect
So think of them in the world’s hard times
And of all those they protect

Real superheroes don’t wear capes
And they’re not from outer space
But they’re heroes to us nonetheless
The best of the human race

As always, thank you so much for reading my word. It means the world that you’ve taken time out of your day to spend a few minutes with me!

Until next time,

George
