The Impermanence of Darkness

The Impermanence of Darkness

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all healthy and well and feeling creatively fulfilled! I’m sharing another poem with you today, I hope you enjoy it!

The Impermanence of Darkness

When the world feels cold and empty
And the darkening sky looks bleak
When the will to go another day
Is playing hide and seek

It can feel like you are drowning
In a lake of pure despair
And that something’s pulling on your legs
When you try to swim for air

But this feeling, it is transient
It is fickle and finite
It is just a temporary shade
That’s blocking out the light

And while that’s hard to keep in mind
The darkness, it won’t last
One day you will regain your light
And the darkness will have passed

As always, thank you so much for reading my words, it means a lot!

Until next time,

George

  1. Cannot happen soon enough for me, as it feels as though I am up to my neck in quicksand!

    • I know that feeling well, Jaye and I think everything feels compounded by what’s going on globally right now. What I find helpful is to allow myself to feel those feelings -i left them come and go like waves on the sea – because pretending they aren’t there doesn’t always work (at least for me), and I tell myself that nothing is permanent. Negative thoughts and emotions do relent eventually. Just know that lots of us are feeling stuck right now you’re not alone 🙂🙂🙂🙂
