Sleepless

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well! I’m sharing another poem with you today. I hope you enjoy it!

Sleepless

Trapped beneath my sheets I wonder
Is there any hope at all
Of a bearer with a torch to come
And light the shadows on the walls?

I’m kept wakened by their scrutiny
The very sight of them gives me chills
And I wonder, does my hope of sleep
Depend on wine or sleeping pills?

They’re steadfast in their eeriness
And they oppress me  with their glare
Yet I’m left to ponder the unanswerable
Do they know I know they’re there?

Trapped beneath my sheets I think
My mind conjuring away
Ways in which those shadows
Might drag me all away

As always, thank you all so much for reading and interacting, I really do appreciate it!

Until next time,

George
