Self Portrait

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well! I’m sharing a poem with you today and I hope you enjoy it!

Self Portrait

Born of scars and bruises
Held and comforted by the night
Rushing toward oblivion
While remaining out of sight

Raised in swirling chaos
Sleepless, angry and depressed
Squirrelled away from daylight
And in dire need of rest

Living through each moment
Like there’s treacle on my shoes
Never forming an opinion
Never offering any views

Existing on tears and torment
And begging for a shift
Waiting for it all to change
For the cloud to finally lift

And suddenly, now thriving
A future stretching out in fore
The darkness that held tightly
Is barely seen anymore

Seeing things more clearly
Making strides in every way
Appreciating living – loving
And being here today

As always, thanks for spending your time with my words – and I know I say this every week, but it really does mean a lot!

Until next time,
