At 12 on New Year’s Night

Happy New Year

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all having a wonderful holiday season! I know I am, although I’ve been working hard the last two days trying to finish the poem I’m sharing today because I’ll be super busy for the next week or so and I won’t get a chance. It’s nice to be busy though. It’s always better to have lots to do than nothing to do at all if you ask me.
The poem is called ‘At 12 on New Year’s Night’ and I wrote it as a sort of reminder to myself – and to everyone else for that matter – that nothing is ever as bad as it seems and the turn of the year is like the turn of a blank page; it’s a new beginning, a fresh start – you get another go at trying to get things right. That’s the beauty of a new year, isn’t it?
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!

At 12 on New Year’s Night

The clock strikes 12, we’ve all survived
It’s time for a brand new start
We leave behind woes of the past
And heal our broken hearts

We laugh with beaming faces
And we kiss the cheeks of friends
Then shake hands with one another
As the old year meets its end

We dance and enjoy the party
Shaking off all our mistakes
We reminisce about the good times
While we fill ourselves with cake

We look forward to the new year
Our futures, glowing bright
Everything seems possible
At 12 on New Year’s Night

As always, thank you all for reading my words, it means the world!
Have a very happy new year and I wish you all health and happiness!

Until next time,

George
