The Autumn Leaves

Hi everyone I hope you’re all well!

It’s hard to believe we’re heading into Autumn again already, yet here we are. Not that I mind. Except for Christmastime, Autumn is my favourite time of the year. Anyhoo, I’m sharing another poem with you today. I hope you enjoy it!

The Autumn Leaves

I watch as autumn leaves drift freely
Helped on by a breeze
Free now they’ve been liberated
And let go by the trees

I marvel as they twist and turn
On their journey to the ground
Buffeted here and there by air
Like they’re dancing without sound

They’ve lived life in convention
In many shiny shades of green
But when entering their dotage
They all start to lose their sheen

Now, they find their end in colour
Vibrant, warm and bright
Resting by their mother’s roots
Growing brittle in autumn light

As nature now reclaims them
And they’re reabsorbed by Earth
Their spirits are reincarnated
When in spring, the trees give birth

As always,  thanks for spending your time with me today!

Until next time,

George
