Undertow

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well! I’m sharing a poem with you today, I hope you enjoy it.

Undertow

Swept away in a tidal wave
Consumed by grief and stress
He feels the hug of the icy sea
And leans into its caress

All control is given up
As he is enveloped in the silent still
Relinquishing all options
To the water’s whims and will

An undertow takes hold of him
And then he begins to drown
Plunging farther into the abyss
He sinks deeper and deeper down

But just in time, there’s a sudden rush
An impulse – a need for breath
And he finds himself resurfacing
Only seconds away from death

The burning pain within his chest
And his stinging, salty eyes
Imbue him with new sentiment
And a need to be alive

As always, thanks for spending your time with my words, it really means a lot.

Until next time,

George
