Waiting

Waiting

Hi everyone, as you may have guessed from some of my recent posts, I’ve been experimenting with poetry. Well, I’ve been at it again and so I wanted to share this piece I wrote with you all. I hope you enjoy it.

Waiting

She lies waiting for his nightly visit
For his presence kills her pain
he’ll stay until the darkness passes
Then return to some other plane

Each night he comes and takes her hand
And they talk about the past
About how they’d weathered sixty years
When nobody thought they’d last

Sometimes they just close their eyes
Their fingers intertwined
They silently relive life’s moments
Wishing they could rewind time

They talk until she falls asleep
Then he slowly fades away
And in the morning, she awakens
To face another lonely day

Then one night, he comes to her
And whispers in her ear
‘Take my hand and come with me,
It’s time to go, my dear’

So, she stands, and without pain
For the first time in so long
He holds his hand outstretched to her
And she hears their favourite song

They dance as moonlight fills the room
They glide across the floor
Then they dance right through the windows
To dance together forever more

As always, thanks for reading.

Until next time,

George
