Hi everyone, I hope you’re all well! I’m sharing a piece of narrative poetry with you today. I hope you enjoy it!
Standing on a cliff-edge on a starlit night
Faces turned up to the pale moonlight
Hands gripped so tightly that their knuckles turn white
As the inky waves crash below
Tired of being held so close to the fire
Forced to the edge by pitchforks and ire
For daring to think or have any desire
And wanting to learn and to grow
Hearts thump thumping from deep within
Sweat and tears mix on their skin
Slowly they turn to one another and grin
Breathing deep, and exhaling slow
Freedom calls them forth at last
The repression they flee will all be passed
As their futures spread out before them, fast
And it’s over the edge they go
As always, thank you for reading my words, it really means a lot! And again, I’d like to say a ginormous thanks to those of you who’ve said wonderful things to me on social media! It really makes a difference and it sure gives an artist with occasional bouts of strong self-doubt a massive boost!
Until next time,
George
