Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you’d like to participate in the challenge, you can find the list of topics for 2026 here. If you’re interested in reading other people’s responses to this week’s topic, you can do so here.
One Sci-fi Item or Ability I Wish Really Existed
I couldn’t just think of one. When I thought about it for even a moment, my head swam with things from sci-fi I wished were real.
Starships
I’ve said this before, but I want to live on the Starship Enterprise. Specifically, Enterprise D from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Obviously, I probably wouldn’t enjoy getting blown to bits every few days—but I would enjoy the smooth flying and pastel colour scheme. I hate that I exist so early in human development. I’d love to see where we’ll end up.
Instant Universal Translators
Speaking of Star Trek, the universal translators used throughout the franchise are coming (probably). It would be wonderful to speak to someone from another country without needing Google Translate or Duolingo (which I love, but it’s slow going).
A Martian Colony
I wish there was a human presence on Mars, or on any other celestial body for that matter. If we humans want to survive into the far-off future, then we’ll need to start thinking about spreading out. With all of us living here on Earth, we’re only one natural disaster away (or a man-made one, which is becoming more likely by the day) from extinction. We’re sitting ducks. At least if we spread out a bit to Mars, Titan, Europa, or even the clouds of Venus, we have a better chance of protecting our histories, culture, and animal populations.
Well, on that cheery note, I’ll bid adieu. I wonder what you’ll all choose.
As ever, thank you for stopping by to read my words. I appreciate it.
Until next time,
George
