Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you would like to participate in the challenge, you can find the list of topics for 2025 here, and if you would like to read other people’s responses to this week’s topic, you can do that here.
TV Shows I’ve Binge-Watched
I’ve binge-watched so many TV shows. It’s how I uncluttered my brain from writing-work related stuff. It’s great to get lost in other worlds for a while.
Here are some of my favourites:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
For those who might have missed it during the late ’90s and early ’00s, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is about a teenage girl who discovers she is the one girl in all the world chosen to fight against the onslaught of vampires and demons drawn to her town by the Hellmouth located beneath it. It has nothing to do with the movie version other than it takes place after those events. I love this show, and I re-watch it pretty regularly.
The Last Night at Tremore Beach
This is a Spanish TV series about a man who gets struck by lightning and begins to have terrible visions of the future. It’s quite a dark show, and some scenes are rather intense, but it’s a gripping series, and it is available on Netflix.
The Boys
The Boys is a superhero series based on the graphic novels of the same name. This is not the Avengers… this is a superhero show only for adults. It’s very violent, occasionally gory and intense, but the storytelling is brilliant, and the acting is often incredible.
Batman the Animated Series
Batman TAS is one of those shows you can put on while doing something else. I think it’s one of the best versions of Batman’s story. Although it’s a cartoon, it’s a little dark at times, but the storytelling is on another level. The animation is also fantastic and has a beautifully specific style, helped by the animators drawing the scenes on black paper.
The Rain
The Rain is a brilliant Danish show on Netflix. It’s about a virus that infects people through the rain, leaving the vast majority of the population dead. There are three seasons (the first two are the better of the three, in my opinion), and it’s a very compelling watch.
Well, that’s enough from me for today, though I’m looking forward to reading all your posts.
Thank you, as ever, for spending time here with me today. It means the world.
Until next time,
George

It is Lydia. The third season is good but loses a bit of the track laid down by the first two. Still very enjoyable, though.

Despite my vampire obsession, I’ve never watched Buffy. Oooh, The Rain sounds really good though.

I’m going to have to break down and watch Buffy, I think! Once I finish The X-Files.

The X-Fikes is another great show. Both Buffy and The X-Files are in development for continuations, too. 🙂

Thanks, Cheryl! Yes, I’m looking forward to the reboot. They started production on the pilot the other day so hopefully we won’t have to wait too long. 🙂

Funnily, we are usually closer in like-thoughts. I like to save shows week to week or at least night after night because if they are good, I don’t want to run out of episodes. I also never rewatch. I can’t stand already knowing the end 🙂
Thanks for your thoughts.
