Expecting Catastrophe

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the state of the world and how we’re always on the verge of one global catastrophe or another due to climate change, and it inspired me to share this poem with you!

Expecting Catastrophe

Flakes are falling from the darkened sky.
I wonder, is it snowing?
Or is that ash from our burning world?
Am I better off not knowing?

Has it finally begun to rain?
There is wetness on my face.
Though it could be heavy acid fog.
It wouldn’t feel out of place.

Is that the sun I feel on my skin?
Or has air now turned to fire?
It’s hard to be certain anymore
When the world’s become so dire.

As always, thank you for stopping by and giving my poem a read! It means the world.

Until next time,

George
