Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. I’m sharing another poem with you today, and I hope you enjoy it.
A Letter to My Younger Self
I won’t tell you which road to take,
Or where your heart should go,
Because the person writing this
Still doesn’t bloody know.
I won’t say, “Don’t be so afraid,”
Or, “Everything works out.”
I’ve learned that growing isn’t done
By living free from doubt.
Instead, I’d like to thank you for
The days you stayed alive,
Even when you could not see
How you could still survive.
You carried more than anyone
Should ever have to bear,
And still learned to have compassion,
And still chose to show you care.
I’m sorry for the nights you thought
You were not worth your place,
And for every tear that ever fell
And streaked your little face.
I won’t promise you brighter days,
Or that you’ll feel no fear.
I won’t tell you what is to come,
Because that isn’t why I’m here.
I’m writing just to thank you for
Each time you chose to stay.
You never knew the life you’d build,
But you built it day by day.
I’m writing just to let you know
That I’m proud of who you are.
I see the strength you couldn’t see—
It’s what brought you this far.
As ever, thanks for stopping by!
Until next time,
George
