Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you’d like to participate in the challenge, you can find the topics for 2026 here. If you’d like to read others’ responses to this week’s topic, you can find them here.
Something I Can’t Live Without and Why
Phone/Laptop
Barring any humans from the equation… I regret to say that I couldn’t live without my phone or my laptop. I use both daily for writing, reading and the all-important, almost impossible-to-avoid daily doomscroll.
Books
I don’t think I would have survived to be 40 years old without books. Books were my escape during some pretty dark times growing up, and as an adult, some of them are like old friends you revisit from time to time.
Good TV
I say good TV, but I’d probably take the not-so-good stuff too. I love a dark, gritty drama, but I also enjoy binge-watching The Real Housewives of ‘wherever’ whenever I get the opportunity.
Music
If music be the food of love, play on. But I think music is also the food of wonder, imagination, anxiety and hope as well as love. I’ve always got headphones in and have experienced most of my life, quite literally, with a soundtrack. Right now, I’m listening to Jagged Little Pill, the album by Alanis Morissette, on repeat for the gazillionth time.
Well, this was post 39! I wonder what you all can’t live without!
Thank you, as always, for stopping by to read my post. It really does mean a lot.
Until next time,
George

Okay.
I don’t want to sound creepy but are you me? Music, books, my laptop and good (trash) TV. Except the phone, I hate my phone. I wish we could go back to the Nokia 3210 days.

Those phones were practically unbreakable. I dropped my from a second floor window and it worked fine 😂

I’m glad we’re both admitting to our device dependency 😜
As to the rest, we’re pretty much the same. Just everything is enjoyed through the devices 🫣

I know. How did we get here? I couldn’t survive without my devices. I can’t remember how I did it in the 80s and 90s. 😂🫠

Honestly, same here for all of them! Which artists or bands have you been listening to lately? Sasha Keable is my most recent discovery, but maybe you already know about her?

I didn’t know about her until just now. Love what I’m hearing so far! I don’t tend to come across new music very often; I usually stick to what I know, which is a lot of Alanis Morissette, The Cranberries, and Fleetwood Mac. I did stumble upon The Cowgays while scrolling TikTok, and they’ve got some catchy tunes.

Very much agreed on books and music….my first car had no working radio, so I’d sing to myself while driving.

Such great choices, George. I doubt I could live without most of these either.

Same with me! The internet is truly my connection to the world…. as shown right here.

Real books and real music rule, but the electronic stuff is such fun! (I wrote a post but didn’t get here to link it. Microsoft really has it in for my laptop.)
