Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you would like to participate in the challenge, you can find the list of topics for 2026 here, and if you would like to read other people’s responses to this week’s topic, you can find them here.
Animals I Wish I Could Have as Pets
I love animals. I have such a high level of compassion for them, so much so that I’ve had people accuse me of caring more for animals than humans. I think this is a ridiculous notion. I’m an empathic, compassionate person, and I value all life. I do, however, think that animals, on the whole, are treated terribly by humans. We hurt them and take away their habitats, complaining that they damage our homes or invade our spaces. But it’s really the other way around. Most of them were here before us. Humans are self-important as a species and think we own everything.
Anyway… as usual, I digress.
Hypothetically, if I could have any animal as a pet, I’d have an Elephant; they are incredibly smart, empathetic and highly social creatures who even give each other names, using distinct, unique vocalisations to address one another.
They can also understand more than 60 human commands. They’re so incredible, and if we don’t look after them, we’ll lose them to extinction since all three species are on the endangered list.
Anyway, that’s enough from me for today.
As always, thanks for reading my words, and I look forward to reading yours!
Until next time,
George
