Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Fictional Worlds I’d Love to Visit

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Somehow, today is Wednesday again, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you would like to participate in the challenge, you can find the list of topics for 2025 here, and if you would like to read other people’s thoughts on today’s topic, you can do so here.

Fictional Worlds I’d Love to Visit

There are so many places I’ve read about or seen on TV shows that would be great places to visit. Below are just a few:

Earth in the Star Trek Universe
Since I first watched Star Trek: The Next Generation in the early 90s, I have had this strange f.o.m.o. about the fact that I won’t be around to see Earth of the twenty-fourth century. From the exposition on the show, we know there aren’t any more wars, and there is no hunger or need. By that point in Earth’s future, it’s a land of plenty and equality where scarcity isn’t a thing, and human beings work together to better themselves. It seems like a peaceful place and a place, I fear, that will only ever exist in fiction.

The world of the Super Mario Bros.
The Mushroom Kingdom of the Super Mario Bros franchise is such a colourful and interesting place. Visiting would be a sensory overload, but it’d be worth it. Well, y’know, except for the invading Koopa lot.

Camelot
Growing up, I was obsessed with stories of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. I’d love to visit Camelot, though maybe just for the afternoon since danger and deceit seem to lurk around every corner.

Wonderland
Wonderland, the place of Alice’s adventures, has always been alluring to me. It’s a place full of nonsense (much like our world lately, but for different reasons) and populated by many intriguing and interesting characters. Best avoid the Queen of Hearts, though, eh?

Atlantis
Atlantis would be interesting to visit for a few reasons. Firstly, it’d be good to know once and for all if it was ever a real place or if Plato was just being creative and basing the place on the island of Thera (Santorini), which was devasted by an erupting volcano in 1600 BCE. If it was an advanced civilization as it is fabled to have been, it would be interesting to see how advanced it was. If it was a real place, it would be nice to know where exactly it was. Many places have been posited, but there’s never been any concrete evidence. What is certain is that it probably wasn’t anything like the Disney film.

Anyway…

That’s it for post 28.

Thank you, as ever, for stopping by and reading my words today!

Until next time,

George

  2. Super Mario Brothers is such a fun answer. I played that game for hours as a kid thanks to a generous family friend who gave us his old gaming system.

These are all great answers, in fact.

  3. I just laughed so loud at Super Mario Brothers. Even considering the fact I work for plumbers (Irish though, not Italian), that’s a big ol NOOOOOOO from me. Hard pass on the crazy turtles bopping you on the head!

More seriously though, Camelot and Earth in Star Trek would both be pretty cool.

Definitely Camelot and Star Trek. I’m fascinated by Arthur’s legend.

  5. Honestly, I would cheerfully visit any of those, though the Super Mario Brothers option made me laugh. If only gold coins were so easy to come by!

  6. When tired of Wonderland, one could seek out the Red Queen and tell her she was a card in order to wake up and get home 🙂 This was fun to read.
