Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Describe Your Sense Of Humour

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you’d like to participate in the challenge, you can find the list of topics for 2024 here. If you’re interested in reading other people’s responses to this week’s topic, you can do so here.

Describe Your Sense Of Humour

I think I have a very dry and often dark sense of humour. Sometimes, people haven’t been able to tell that I’m joking, or they think I’m offended by what they’ve said because of a reaction I spat out, but it’s hard to offend me, and I am usually trying to be witty. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

I’m often funny without meaning to be, too. There have been times when I have been having a serious conversation, and the person I’m talking to will start giggling, leaving me oblivious.

I think humour is a strange thing. It’s very subjective. What I find funny, you may not, and vice versa.

I find many things and people funny, though I’m not much of a laugher. It really has to be something super hilarious to tickle me.
An example of such a thing was the other day when my husband and I were waxing nostalgic about playing outside as children. He said, “Oh, I loved playing games and being outdoors with my friends when I was little,” and I replied, “Oh, I didn’t,” to which he quipped back instantly, without missing a beat, “Yeah, you were probably sat at a table doing your dad’s taxes.”

The comment caught me off guard, and I belly-laughed for a long time. It’s such a silly statement, and yet it shows just how well he knows me because if I were any good at all with numbers, I probably would have been!

That’s enough from me for now. It’ll be interesting to see how all of you describe your sense of humour.

Thank you, as always, for stopping by to read my post. It really does mean a lot.

Until next time,

George

  2. Humor is definitely subjective and waaaay too many people think they’re funnier than they really are. I love that you don’t even realize you’re being funny.

  4. I loved this. So much like me, and I adore your husband’s response (I’m sure people have said the same about me….). I also have trouble with people thinking I’m too dark (I was nicknamed “baby shrapnel” by a friend of my Dad’s because my humour was apparently too mean? Or something? I still don’t really know). I usually hold a fair amount back and just amuse myself. And I don’t laugh out loud very often at all, even when something does hit me, so there’s that. Not very surprising, but I think we’ve got similar tastes in the humourous!
