Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. It’s Wednesday, and time for the next post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you’d like to take part in the challenge yourself, you can find this year’s list of weekly topics here, and if you’d like to read what others have written about today’s topic, you can do that here!
Something Funny that Happened to me
One of the funniest things that happened to me occurred when I was 10.
When I was a kid, my younger brother and I would play wrestling. We’d throw each other around our living room and slam one another off the sofa and the armchairs (you might imagine how my mum felt about that).
Whilst we were wrestling one evening while my mum was cooking in the kitchen, my little sister, who was then five years old, got very upset because she wanted to play too. We weren’t having any of it, though, telling her that wrestling was for boys, so she told on us.
Mum came in and, to her credit, told us that anything boys can do, girls can do, too, and that if my sister wanted to wrestle with us, then we had to let her.
Reluctantly, we agreed, and we decided we’d take turns wrestling. I was first up, but before I could do much of anything, my sister, who was quite a bit larger than the average five-year-old, was standing right before me. She grabbed my arm and, with all her strength, threw me over her shoulder.
I flew threw the air like a feather, arching through the room.
As I landed on the living room floor, searing pain washed through my arm, making me scream. My mum came running in, and I was immediately taken to the hospital, where I discovered that my arm was broken with some of the soft tissues being torn.
I couldn’t move my arm for a few weeks, but it got me a chunk of time off school, so there was that.
To add insult to this already embarrassing episode, while my mum was explaining to the nurse that I had been thrown around like a rag doll by my little sister, the nurse started laughing. She laughed so hard that she literally fell off her seat. At that point, we were all laughing, and we still laugh about it now when we talk about it.
I’m intrigued to discover all of your funniest moments!
Well, that’s post number 10 complete. I’m still sticking to the challenge, and though it’s hard because of time constraints, I am rather enjoying it.
As always, thank you for stopping by to read my words. It really does mean the world!
Until next time,
George

Oh, ouch! I hope you healed quickly. But that is funny in retrospect. 🙂

Yes, healed quickly enough that I didn’t have too much catching up to do when I got back to school! 🤣

At least you had an interesting story to tell… and still do! As does your sister, lol.

And, she revels in telling it. To everyone, every chance she gets! 🙄🤣

My brother and I were jumping off of the couch, into a bean bag chair, when we were both kids. He didn’t move fast enough, so I landed on his arm and broke it. My Mom was SO mad at me. In all fairness, she DID ask us to stop that, but was around the corner making dinner also. I was grounded for a month, for my disobedience and he was treated like royalty with his cast and sling!

I mean, that *is* pretty funny. Except for the broken arm, I mean. Talk about proving your mom’s point…
