Book Review: The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Friday, and it’s time for another review. Today, I’m sharing my review of the lovely, positivity-infused book, The Book of Awesome by Neil Pasricha.

The Book of Awesome was released by G.P. Putnam’s Sons. It is 315 pages long and was released in 2010.

What’s It About
The book is based on a hit blog titled “1000 Awesome Things”. It is a wonderful tribute to the tiny, everyday victories that too often go unnoticed in our fast-paced, worry-soaked world.

Writing Style
Pasricha’s writing style is casual, upbeat, and warmly humorous, with each page reading like a cheerful conversation with a good friend, one who’s optimistic without being preachy and nostalgic without being saccharine.

Each “awesome thing” gets a short essay (usually 1–3 pages), beginning with an amusing or reflective anecdote, followed by the “awesome” moment, and ending with an emphatic “AWESOME!”

There’s no jargon, no pretension. This is feel-good prose designed to connect with readers of all ages and backgrounds.

We’ve all experienced the joy of finding money in our pockets or the cosy feeling of being indoors on a snowy day—and Pasricha does an excellent job of tapping into these universal experiences and making them feel special and meaningful.

This is a light, easy and enjoyable read; I read the book in a single day, but you could also use it as a daily dose of positivity by reading a chapter a day.

Final Thoughts
The Book of Awesome is a delightful reminder that true happiness often lies within reach if we only pause to appreciate life’s simple pleasures.

Neil Pasricha’s collection of essays serves as a gentle nudge towards mindfulness and gratitude for all the wonderful things that surround us each day.

So next time you find yourself caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life, take a moment to pick up this book and rediscover the joy found in “The other side of the pillow”, “Illegal naps” and “Popping bubble wrap” as well as lots of other brilliantly awesome things.

I’m giving The Book of Awesome a 10/10.

Have you read this one?

Thank you, as ever, for reading this week’s review.

Until next time,

George
