Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, meaning it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you’d like to participate in the challenge, you can find the list of topics for 2025 here. If you want to read other people’s responses to this week’s topic, you can find them here.
Authors I Wish More People Knew About
George Takei
I only discovered that George Takei wrote books recently, but I wish I’d known sooner. I’ve only read his graphic autobiographies, ‘They Called Us Enemy’ and ‘It Rhymes With Takei’, which detail his life from being held in Japanese internment camps (in America!) during World War II, his career in Hollywood and his activism for equality.
Danny Robins
I knew of Danny Robins because of his paranormal podcast ‘Uncanny’, which has subsequently been turned into a TV series. I recently discovered that he wrote the play 2:22: A Ghost Story, in which a young couple keep bickering about whether their home is haunted. It’s excellent.
Rivers Solomon
I’ve only read The Deep by Solomon, which tells the story of a mermaid called Yetu who becomes the keeper of memories for her people, who are descended from slaves thrown into the ocean. From what little I’ve read about Solomon, they seem like an interesting person, and I’d be interested in reading more of their work.
Anyway, I am very interested to read about your answers this week, as I struggled to come up with my own.
Thank you, as ever, for spending some time with me today. It really means the world.
Until next time,
George

Such a fascinating list, George. I knew Takei wrote books, but I haven’t read any of them yet. Robins’ book sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

He’s had such an interesting life and struggled through a lot. It’s inspiring to see how even through all that hardship and trauma you can still be kind and successful.
