Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: New Books I Want to Read this Month/Year

Hi everyone, I hope you’re well. It’s New Year’s Day, the first day of a brand new year and the first post of this year’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you’d like to participate in the challenge, you can find the list of topics for 2025 here. If you’re interested in reading other people’s responses to this week’s topic, you can do so here.

New Books I Want to Read this Month/Year

There are so many books I want to read this year — my TBR pile has grown tremendously over recent weeks.

One book that I am looking forward to reading is Matt Haig’s latest, The Life Impossible. I love Matt Haig’s work; he has such a lovely way with words.

Another book I need to read this year is The Book of Magic, the final instalment in Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic series. I have read the previous three and loved them, and this one’s been out quite a while. I’ve just not had time to get to it yet. She has a knack for pulling you into the characters’ lives, always making you want to know more.

I’m also interested in reading Cher’s autobiography. If anyone’s had an interesting life, it’s her.

Some of the books I got for Christmas are the fictional autobiographies of James T. Kirk, Jean-Luc Picard and Kathryn Janeway, so I’m sure they will be interesting. I love Star Trek, which is why my husband got them for me, along with the Star Trek TNG graphic novel Ghosts, none of which I’ve read yet.

Also, this year, I’ll be looking for more novelisations. I enjoyed reviewing the ones I’ve found thus far and comparing them to their film/TV/stage play counterparts. Some have been great, some less so, but they’re always interesting; it’s intriguing to read how an author expands upon a character or world in an already-established story.

Anyway, that’s me for now, I think.

Well, that’s the first Wednesday post of 2025 done! I’m interested to read about all your reading prospects for the coming month/year. Perhaps I’ll find yet more titles for my TBR pile. I can hear my shelves creaking already!

As always, thanks for spending time with me today! It really does mean a lot!

Until next time,

George

  1. I’ve heard good things about those Star Trek autobiographies. Hope you like them.

  2. I’d not heard about the Star Trek faux-autobiographies — Interesting! Probably similar to the Picard show I’d watched recently. I’m a big Jane Austen fan and recently several books have popped up about people in a “Jane Austen Society,” so I think I’m keen to read those. Thanks for posting!
