The Insistence of the Sun

Hi everyone I hope you’re all doing well! I’m sharing another poem with you today. I hope you enjoy it!

The Insistence of the Sun

Again the sun arrives to chide me
And as it warms the sky up red
It demands that I should face the world
And ignore the simmering dread

The sun arrives, and I roll over
Its smile is just too bright
But still, it reflects off every surface
Determined to stay in sight

The sun arrives again and nags me
It says “go, and be alive!
I’m tired of seeing you waste your time,
Wouldn’t you like to thrive?”

The sun arrives to push and pull me
It wants to motivate my mind
But I’ve dug deep and know for sure
There’s no motivation here to find

The sun arrives again and again
Punctual as ever, it gnaws
But bit by bit it eats the darkness
Until I can push myself outdoors

As ever, thank you so much for reading my work, it really means a lot!

Until next time,

George
