Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Something To Know Before Visiting My Country/City

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you would like to participate in the challenge, you can find the topics for 2026 here, and if you would like to see what others have said about this week’s topic, you can do so here.

Something To Know Before Visiting My Country/City

This is a hard one to answer. England is a lovely place to look at, and most of us pride ourselves on being a multicultural, welcoming nation—but there are a growing number who feel the opposite. There is so much growing xenophobia and racism that it’s crazy. Every single person on the planet has ancestry that comes from somewhere other than their own country, so it irritates me that some in my country will happily move to Spain, Italy, or Greece, then complain about migrants coming to England.

On a brighter note, England has an incredible history and architecture. I love some of the old Tudor period and the Gothic revival styles. We have lovely churches, castles and ancient monuments.

Where I live, in the northeast, we have one of the broadest accents in the country—and we’re consistently voted the UK’s friendliest city. Oh, and we have some of the most beautiful coastline in the country. The whole of the British Isles is beautiful, really.

Well, that’s me for post 24! I wonder what you’ll all say is important to know about where you come from.

But for now, as always, thank you for stopping by and spending some time with me today.

Until next time,

George
