10 Gifts for People Who Love… Science-Fiction

Sci-fi lovers are very easy to buy for—if you know the particular sci-fi shows they enjoy.

For example, my husband knows I love Star Trek and Doctor Who and will often choose something relating to those shows. But if you don’t know what a person’s favourite flavour of sci-fi is, you can’t go wrong with a book. There are loads of sci-fi anthologies available containing various types of science-fiction stories.

But anyway—let’s get on with what we’re here for: 10 Gift Ideas for People Who Love Science-Fiction.

1 T-shirts
T-shirts are great gifts. You can buy them with just about any design on the front these days. I usually get my husband a couple with characters from his favourite cartoons growing up (Ed, Edd n Eddy or Dragon Ball), and I tend to get my younger brother a Doctor Who T-shirt every year for Christmas.

2 Action Figures
I’ve never been a big fan of action figures—not even as a kid. I tend to think they are for children, though I’ve been informed by my fully grown husband and my adult nephew that they are indeed for all ages. (I still disagree).

3 Video Games
Video games are a good option. There are many sci-fi games, and they are often a go-to for me. They’re an easy option because my husband loves video games. It’s a good idea to figure out if the person already has the game before you buy it. I’ve run into this problem a few times. I have learnt to check now, though.

4 DVD/Bluray
This is another easy option. Every year, we keep telling ourselves that we’ll stop buying each other physical media because almost everything we like is available on one streaming platform or another. But we always end up with more. In fact, my nephew came up with a good point: if—for whatever reason—the net ever goes down, we’ll always have something to entertain ourselves with.

5 Bedding
I think bedding is such a great idea, especially if the gift is for a child. I’d never thought of it before until I saw someone post their child’s Yoda bedding.

6 Notebooks
We love our notebooks in our house. I can always find room for another one, and you can get them with all kinds of designs—you can even print your own these days.

7 Pyjamas
Pyjamas are a quintessential Christmas gift, and we get new ones every year. I’ve bought my nephew Marvel and Star Wars-themed pyjamas before.

8 Colouring Books
You can never have too many colouring books. Most franchises have colouring books these days. We’ve got superhero, Dragonball and Doctor Who colouring books that we’ve bought for one another as gifts over the years. Colouring is actually a helpful way to reduce anxiety.

9 Autographed Memorabilia from a Favourite TV Series/Film
This is another one I’d never thought of until I saw someone post about it on social media, but there are places online where you can buy signed merch.

10 The Gift that Never Fails—A Book
You can’t ever go wrong with a book. I love science fiction, and I have various Star Trek and Doctor Who novels, so my family knows they can’t go wrong with those or even with a book with a general sci-fi plot. Again, it’s best to check that the person you’re buying the gift for doesn’t already have the book—if you can.

Well, that’s post 50 done! I’m looking forward to reading all of your ideas!

As always, thank you for spending some time reading my post today. It means the world.

Until next time,

George

  2. LOVE IT!

As to Action Figures – my hubby has gotten me a couple, since I’m also a horror fan they’re both from The Walking Dead: Michonne who is out of her box, and Negan who will never be allowed out of his box.

and thank you for mentioning Notebooks ❤️❤️❤️

  3. I always laugh when my family tells me, “I’d get you a book but I don’t know what you liked to read”….I’ve literally kept an online list for 18 years!

  4. Do Funko Pops count as action figures? I am not a fan of either one. I would be happy with rocks and sea shells display on a shelf.

Puzzles and board games are always good gift to give.
