Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well. Today is Wednesday, and it’s time for another post in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you’d like to participate in the challenge yourself, you can find the list of topics for 2025 here. If you’re interested in reading other people’s responses to this week’s topic, then you can find them here.
Books I Keep Meaning to Read (but Haven’t)
The Southern Vampire Mysteries (aka The Sookie Stackhouse novels) by Charlaine Harris
I happened upon the TV series True Blood when it first aired, and I was immediately hooked. I later discovered it was based upon a series of novels, and ever since, I’ve wanted to read them, but there are so many—and what if the TV show is better? They’re still on my TBR, anyway, and I’m sure I’ll get around to them at some point.
Julia by Sandra Newman
I’m very much interested in reading this sequel (or companion) to George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four. It tells the story from the perspective of Winston’s love interest, the eponymous Julia. I’ve always been curious as to her story. It’s been on my TBR for ages. I’ll get to it eventually.
A Dog’s Journey and A Dog’s Promise by W. Bruce Cameron
I’ve written a few times (even last week) about the novel A Dog’s Purpose, in which a dog is continuously reincarnated at the moment of death, and each time he’s reborn (into various breeds and genders), he wonders why and surmises that there must be a purpose. It takes a little while, but he discovers his purpose is to be reunited with the first human who showed him real love, his best friend, Ethan.
The other two books in the series have been waiting on my Google bookshelf for the longest time. I want to read them so much, but that first one… man… it still makes me cry if I think about it too long… so, anyway…
The Many Novelisations on my TBR
I love to read novelisations, and I still have stacks of them waiting for me to read, such as Back to the Future and The Sixth Sense.
Do any of you go through your TBR list in any particular order? I sometimes think I should be going through it by reading the books that have been on it the longest first. But then I’ll end up reading a book whose cover catches my eye or even a book I’ve just bought. I’m just curious how you all do it.
Anyway, that’s all from me for today.
Thanks, as always, for stopping by to read my post. It really does mean the world.
Until next time,
George

The dog books sound so interesting, but I’m not sure I could read them without a box of tissues.
I wish I could say there is order to my TBR pile, George. It’s alphabetized, but I pretty much pick up what I feel like reading. More often than not, I am reading a book that I need to review.
Thanks for sharing.

I am a mood reader, so my TBR books get taken care of as the winds direct me to them!

I have read and watched the Southern Vampire Mysteries. I’d say the books are maybe a little better, but the show was fun too.
It’s lighthearted entertainment at any rate. If you’d rather not read the books, the tv show will give you a solid understanding of what happens. 🙂

I cry while reading the first two A Dog’s Purpose books. Not as much on the second one because I know what to expect.
I like those books for how they are told through the dog’s perspective and do not spell things out with the wider story of the humans.
