Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: Favourite Websites/Podcasts/Blogs

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all well! It’s time for post number 12 in the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge hosted by Long and Short Reviews. If you want to join in the challenge, you can find this year’s list of topics here, and if you’d like to read other people’s responses to this week’s topic, you can do that here.

Favourite Websites/Podcasts/Blogs

Uncanny
Uncanny is a BBC radio series (also available on Spotify) presented by Danny Robins in which he explores paranormal phenomena. As I’ve said before, I don’t believe in ghosts, but I enjoy listening to others talk about their beliefs and alleged experiences with the paranormal. This series, in particular, has something rather soothing about it. I’ve fallen asleep many nights listening to Danny and his interviewees (in a good way). It’s an interesting show.

WWF
I love the WWF (World Wildlife Fund). Their website has some great images of animals and lots of facts about them, too. It’s an interesting site to look through if you’re waiting to go into an appointment or something. I love Animals.

History Hit
I’m also a fan of historian Dan Snow’s History Hit, where he takes listeners on a journey through history’s important moments, making the subject enjoyable and accessible. It’s a fantastic podcast that’s probably available everywhere, though I listen to it on Spotify.

Wikipedia and Google
Wikipedia and Google are two of my most visited websites. I’m constantly researching something for a story or looking up synonyms for poems. These sites make my life just that little bit easier, and I’m sure I’m not alone.

Long and Short Reviews
I must admit, I don’t spend an enormous amount of time on Long and Short Reviews; I mostly head there on a Wednesday and leave the tab open, refreshing to ensure I see everyone’s Wednesday Challenge posts.

I found the site by accident a couple of years ago when searching for blog topics that I might write about that were different from my usual posts about writing and editing. I wasn’t disappointed, and It’s helped me become more confident in opening up about myself and connecting to others.

Well, that’s it for post 12. I’m curious to read about some of your favourite websites, podcasts and blogs.

As always, thanks so much for reading my words!

Until next time,

George

  2. “Favorite websites” would have been a much different prompt back in say….2005, before so much web activity had been hoovered up by Youtube/reddit/twitter etc.

  3. I may have to add History Hit and WWF to my list. Sounds good. But I forgot Google. What in the world would I do without Google.
